Apparently World of Warcraft isn’t the big waste of time that I thought it was (not that that stops me playing it).

Scientists are actually interested in studying how epidemics might spread across human populations following an incident in the game when an artificial plague was introduced to the populace.

I came across this article (from 2007) when I was randomly reading stuff.

Huh… who’d have thought it?

I remember reading that article when it came out, I thought it to be both amusing and interesting at the same time. Seems like a good idea though, what better to test human emotions and reactions, then to place it in a game that people have connected deeply with (due to the amount of time to lvl up and get good gear!).
